De Ripperdá
Johan Willem Ripperda initially used a quartered coat-of-arms representing the
families of his immediate ancestors as well as the house of Ripperda. From 1726
onward, he used the quartered coat-of-arms as granted by King Philip V of Spain
upon his elevation to Duke and Grande of Spain1.

Quarterly: I, Or (gold), three eagles Sable (black); II, Azure (blue), two fleurs-de-lis Or (gold) ensigned with a star Or (gold); III, Gule (red), three towers Argent (silver) (2, 1); IV, Or (gold), an eagle Sable (black), and below righ a star Azure (blue); over all an escutcheon Sable (black), a knight in armour on horseback wielding a sword Or (gold) (for Ripperda). Rietstap: Écartelé: au 1, d'or, à trois aigles de sable et une ligne horizontale de sable passant entre les aigles, 2 au-dessus et 1 au-dessous de ladite ligne; au 2, d'azur, à deux fleurs-de-lis d'or en chef et une étoile du même en pointe; au 3, de gueules, à trois tours d'argent; au 4, d'or, à l'aigle de sable acc. au canton dextre de la pointe d'une étoile d'azur. Sur le tout de sable à un chevalier, armé de toutes pièces, orné d'un baudrier de gueules, monté sur un cheval bai galopant sur une terrasse rocheuse au naturel, ledit chevalier tenant une lance en bande, cachée à demi derrière le cheval. Friedrich Unico Wilhelm von Ripperda-Cosyn was the first of his line to use the

use the original Ripperda coat-of-arms.
